Communication Workshop in South Dakota

“Words and Things” is the theme of a communication workshop that the Advancement Associates team will lead on Saturday, November 15, in Freeman, South Dakota.
Marlan Kaufman, president of Freeman Academy, has invited about 50 community and Academy leaders to participate. Jerry Kennell, Rich Gerig and Dan Hess will represent AAI.
AAI identifies communication workshops as just another way to help its client organizations to advance. “Good communication is at the heart of friend-raising and fundraising,” says Dan Hess, who will lead the workshop.
The workshop is designed to be a moral builder among the leaders and to highlight the principles and good practices of effective communication.
Participants will identify crucial components of their setting – the context in which their communication takes place. They will review the many organized groups such as boards, committees and task forces whose responsibilities require effective linkage with each other.
In one of the sessions, Hess will use role-playing to help participants understand the effects of message and meta-message (the things beyond words) upon receivers.
Prior to his work with Advancement Associates, Hess taught communication at Goshen College, Goshen, Indiana.
This event is hosted by Advancement Associates.
