A few years have passed since Rich Gerig last visited Wichita (KS) Friends School (WFS), having concluded a contract that included creating an enrollment plan, reviewing communications materials and more.

Enabling growth in a challenging environment Freeman Academy

Freeman Academy(Freeman, SD) is a Mennonite school for grades 5-12. Located in a remote setting and largely dependent on an unpredictable farm economy, this school has faced unique challenges in both funding and enrollment for much of its 106 years of existence. In 2002, Freeman Academy hired Advancement Associates to assist with a capital campaign. A feasibility study revealed several themes among constituents: 1) potential support for the school and its program and 2) concern about declining enrollment. The Board of Directors decided to build an enrollment component into the campaign and hired Rich Gerig to guide the effort.

Auxiliary Services

Paying attention and adapting serviceAdriel School

Over the last few years a number of our clients have engaged in market research, one of several auxiliary services offered by AAI. Among them are schools working to improve their image and/or increase their enrollment; retirement centers considering a new approach to long-term care; and a church conference wanting to better support its pastors. In each case, these organizations were motivated by a genuine desire to provide their constituency with service that was more accessible, more comprehensive and more relevant. All concluded that conducting market research would be an important step to this end.

Improving communication—The Marsh Foundation

AAI’s work with The Marsh Foundation may be understood best as a three-step process. The original contract called for AAI to conduct an organizational audit with surveillance of internal processes and relationships, the internal communication system, institutional morale, external communication, public relations and marketing.

Sherilyn’s knowledge, ideas, and insight have proved to be very beneficial as we looked to create a comprehensive communications plan. Sherilyn definitely kept us on track and we are very pleased with the results.
